Here comes Alcy aaaagain~

I should probably be either sleeping or cooking right now. Instead, I'm just burning some incense, listening to cheesy music, and preparing for the long overdue rerelease of my personal website! <3

I never thought I'd intentionally listen to Jessica Simpson...hahahahahaha.

To everyone celebrating, have a happy Thanksgiving! (And if you're not, have a happy November 27th anyway, dears.) Yay for Quorn roast and baked carrots! <3

Anyone care to have this dance~?

Tutorial: Curling doll hair

When you want to curl doll hair, never use a curling iron as it will most likely fry the hair. Instead, follow this step-by-step, modelled by Felicia!

Materials:

-Doll, obviously (Note: I do not recommend using a custom doll that has been repainted, as this process may loosen acrylic paint)
-Large bowl or cooking pot of boiling water
-Brush
-Linen water spray (optional)
-Small rubber bands
-A set of long, thin tools to wrap hair around (such as pencils, pipe cleaners...in this tutorial I used some incense I wasn't fond of, though keep in mind it can be messy)

First, brush the doll's hair out well (I recommend using linen water spray during this step). Then, start separating sections. If there are any pieces of hair you would like to leave uncurled, I recommend sectioning them off separately with a rubber band. For the pieces you do wish to curl, start wrapping them around your tools and securing with a rubber band or two each.

Dip the doll's hair into the boiling water for approximately 45 seconds.

Then, immediately run it under (or soak it in) ice cold water for a minute or two. Leave it to air dry (it's OK to use a towel, but never a hair dryer as it can likely cause damage).

The more completely the hair dries before it is removed from the tools, the tighter the curls will be. When it is ready, carefully remove the hair from the tools and style it with your fingers. Voila!

It is also possible to create a wavy or crimped effect by braiding the hair instead of putting it around tools, or straighten hair by allowing it to hang loose as it is boiled/cooled down.

Disclaimer: I can't guarantee your results. It is best to practice on a doll you don't care much about. Needless to say, this is for dolls only - never attempt this on a real person.

Inside my purse

New meme from Tallulah! Just show off the junk in your purse (or wallet, or briefcase) and tag some friends to do the same! You're welcome to do this even if you aren't tagged.

This takes me back to 8th grade sleepovers where we would all try to inspect each other's stuff, whether or not everyone consented to it. One time Kyli and I found a sheet of notebook paper completely (and tastelessly!) covered in the owner's crush's name.

P.S. if you are a guy who keeps a purse, please consider yourself tagged.

Purse I picked up for 15 cents at a garage sale covered in buttons (2 from Furjay, 1 from Kyli, 1 from Clint, 3 from a Chinese Laundry promotion), small notebook, purple pen, bag of aspirin, Value Village coupon, $1 sunglasses found at Goodwill, mass of keychains with two keys buried somewhere in it (some from Kyli, one from Furjay, some found at a thrift store), crappy cell phone with Daiso star mirror charm (that is not particularly useful as a mirror), makeup bag from an Allure giveaway

Inside of makeup bag: small mirror, Tutti Dolce Fantasia di Cioccolata lipgloss, Sephora glitter lipstick #69 (why I'm not sure, I never wear it), Clinique Bamboo Pink lipstick, MAC lipsticks: Girl About Town, Ruby Woo, Pink Noveau, Face Atelier Revenge lipstick, some Victoria's Secret lipliner (I forget the shade name), Clinique Air Kiss lipgloss, some chocolate cherry lotion I got free in the mail, Goldie Leslie lipgloss

Ha

So, last month or maybe two months ago I was going nuts because I had a sudden desire for gray nail polish. At this time, apparently no brands sold any, so I mixed two of my own - one light and one dark.

What do I see in the new Sephora catalogue?

Oh yeah, everyone wants to be me. ♥

p.s. still mad about the hair incident. Back to black for now, I'll try it again though.

OMG SO CUTE!!!

http://search.ebay.com.au/_W0QQsassZreallchic

My friend just bought the most delicious looking handmade cupcake soy candles from this store.

They look so real!!! I can just taste the sweetest fresh cupcake looking at it. They make soaps like this too (among other shapes of soaps and candles), everything looks good enough to eat!

Score!

Didn't find very much at the thrift store today, but what I did is really nice.

-A pack of apple cider scented incense that will be AMAZING if it even smells a fraction as nice burning as it does unlit

-Two boxes of really well made chopsticks from the CITS Suzhou (apparently a very fancy upscale hotel in China). Solid dark wood, and very heavy! I'd been meaning to get some decent chopsticks anyway (I generally eat better with them than with a fork actually), and only 99 cents a box! I'd have bought more for sure if they had any.

Vinyl doll hair reroot tutorial

Rock Angelz Sasha! Id wanted one since she was first released, but I didnt get the chance to buy one before she completely sold out. For only a dollar, I wasnt about to leave her hanging on Value Villages wall of toys.

Whats this? Seems her previous owner was a bit scissor happy. Tsk! Oh well, I can fix this.

Materials required:

-Mug of water
-A long, sturdy needle (length is key)
-Thread
-Nail clippers, preferably dull
-Tweezers
-Replacement hair (For qualitys sake, I recommend using saran hair. My preferred supplier is http://restoredoll.com )
-An object that can be used to safely push down on the sharp end of a needle
-A large safety pin
-Scissors

First, its off with her head. To remove a Bratz head, hold the dolls neck over a mug of boiling (or near boiling) water for about 35 seconds to steam it and make the heads vinyl softer. Then, push the head down onto the neck and carefully pull it off. Take extra care if using a male doll - there is a larger neck anchor on the male body which is more prone to breaking. Other types of fashion dolls may have similar neck anchors.

Once the head is off, I recommend taking a pair of dull nail clippers to the strands of hair that have been butchered (or the whole head, if you want to do a full reroot) and pull them completely out of the head. Any remaining stubs can be removed with tweezers.

Cut a length of thread about 4-5 times the length of the dolls head and fold it in half. Stick the creased end of the thread through the eye of the needle (important: do not knot) and have an amount around the length of the dolls head laying out on the creased end.

Bend the large safety pin to approximately a 90 degree angle. Stick it into one of the holes which once contained hair, or create a new one if desired.

Remove the pin (twist it around a bit while pulling it out) and immediately insert the needle into the hole, eye down. Use a tool to direct and push the needle out the dolls neck hole (I usually use a doll hairbrush made of thick hard plastic to do this).

Remove the needle through the neck hole, while leaving the thread in place. The creased end should be hanging out the neck hole, and the loose ends should still be sticking out of the scalp.

Take a small amount of hair (look at the amount of strands in each hole on the head for an idea) and tie a knot on one end. Be sure that this is longer than it needs to be in the end, especially if you are rooting very short hair. Slip the knotted end into the loop hanging out the dolls neck hole. Then, grab the loose thread ends that are hanging out the top of the head and carefully pull until the thread loop is out of the head, and the hair is correctly in place. Repeat as many times as necessary.

Once youve finished adding hair, its time to steam the neck hole again.

Then, carefully place the head back onto the body and adjust it until it sits properly.

Brush the hair out, and trim the new strands as desired. Be careful! Cutting in small intervals can help.

Voila!

DISCLAIMER: I cant guarantee your results and suggest using a practice doll before starting on a project youre really concerned with. Needless to say, this is for dolls only.

EDIT: What happened to my apostrophes?

My monitor is acting up...

so don't be surprised if I disappear for a few days. It's been flickering off and on for a while...just tonight, red isn't displaying on most of the screen, so everything has a blue tint.

Awesome game:

Persona 3 FES for PS2. I just got it last week (after the raves of multiple friends), and it is amazing. I don't want to spoil much, but it has a great combination of RPG and life simulation elements. I definitely recommend it!

I may fail at falafel...

...but I made a decent (even edible!) vegetarian okonomiyaki! ♥

Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 egg
1 cup water
2.5 cups (?) mixed vegetables (optional: also mix in noodles, cheese, tofu, bits of mochi, etc...)
A generous shaking of ground ginger
Salt, to taste (?)

Defrost the vegetables, if you're using frozen. Mix everything together well! Fry a little at a time with minimal oil until the bottom is lightly browned, then flip. When finished, top with soy sauce and serve! This recipe should be enough for 2-3 people.

Apparently I text in my sleep.

So, I passed out for a bit earlier...and when I woke up and looked at my phone, a new text message had not only been opened but was at the bottom of the page. Nobody else messed with my phone. WTF? Usually I wake up when it rings (it was set up loud, too!)
